Just Get Out There and Do Something

I just received this picture from a friend that lives in Kailua on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu. This is a picture of his son Kai out for his first Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding session. Kai was born and raised in Hawaii. So, he is used to the power of the ocean and the beauty that the locals have come to enjoy.

I was stoked to see this picture and to know that Kai is getting out there and doing something. Of course, not everyone has the luxury of living in a paradise like Hawaii, but it shouldn’t matter. Everyone should get out there and do something – especially if it’s something new to you. Who knows --- maybe you’ll find that one thing that is your guiding passion for the rest of your life. Something you can pass on to your family, friends … your kids.

Stand Up Paddle Surfing

Stand Up Paddle surfing has been around for a long time. The Hawaiian’s have been enjoying this form of exercise and transportation for many years. There is plenty of information out there about the benefits of Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding provides to exercise your core muscles and to improve your balance.

However, there is an added benefit to SUP that doesn’t often get much airplay, but it’s there. That’s the pure joy of getting out there under your own power and exploring. Exploring at your pace and seeing things from a completely different perspective. Including, occasionally, losing sight of where you came from.

One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.

What did you do today? Was it new? Would you do it again?

My recommendation for the day --- (for every day):

Just get out there and do something. Anything. Just do it!
