Team Specialized … You Rock

Have you ever wondered what your next mountain bike might be?

imageWell, if you ever get the chance to go riding with John Friedrich of Specialized you will likely find yourself riding a perfectly tuned and sweet ride. Of course, it’s gonna be a Specialized bike. I rode a Specialized Enduro and a Specialized Stumpjumper – I think both were S-Works editions.

Twitter Made it Happen

imageJohn and I met on Twitter when he was living in Bozeman (MT) and we got to trading tweets about rides and the Specialized Stumpjumper Trail Crew. John is a card carrying member. Check out his #SJTC blog posts here. (Which … for the record … I would really like to be a member. Hint! Hint!)

Super Bowl Sunday is THE BEST DAY to Ride

For as long as I can remember I have always gone bike riding or snow skiing on Super Bowl Sunday (SBS). This year I needed to be in the San Francisco area on SBS. I traded tweets and e-mails with John and he agreed to coordinate a ride. So, I flew into San Jose (on an almost empty flight, by the way) and John picked me up. We headed over to the Burrito Factory to fuel up and then to Aaron’s to consolidate cars and gear.

I had the privilege and pleasure of getting to ride with Aaron & Aaron, Dusty and the aforementioned John from Specialized.

John runs the Specialized Bicycle Components University (aka SBCU) and he get’s to drive around in this sweet ride … when he’s not riding one of the many Specialized bikes in his arsenal.

During the Ride

After the ride … the bikes are getting loaded up with the sun setting thru the trees. A Perfect California Sunset for a Perfect Day.

Special thanks to John Friedrich for making the time to setup the ride, pick me up at the airport, take me on an incredible ride, introduce me to his Specialized colleagues and take me back to the train station. You made my Super Bowl Sunday rock.

How we can top it next year?

Well, there is a standing offer to the SBCU (and anyone else) that wants to ride in the Pacific Northwest. Ping me and we’ll make it happen. We have incredible trails and they are open year round. See Tweet-A-Ride, Run or Swim and Why I like living and riding in the PNW for more details.

Remember ---

Ride Hard, Have Fun & Keep Smiling.

Share the Trails. Share what you know!
